Studio G|B
A project using Wordpress, Elementor and WooCommerce.
When an ecommerce solution is required what is the best solution? The decision is easier if you have many sales or clients buying from you as regular costs can be easily absorbed as a business expense. But what if you are trying to create a market or get noticed and you need to be efficient with your spend?
I chose to use Wordpress as the basis of the website and self-host to keep costs down. I used Elementor to help easily design the site but with the recent Wordpress Blocks updates this option is becoming less necessary and will save costs on using Elementor. For the ecommerce / sales cart part of the site I used WooCommerce which is free for what I needed.
The domain and secure (SSL) certificates are important so hosting and costs need to be factored in for these. The cart software needs to support payment providers that your customers will use, or you could use bolted on solutions like Snipcart or external providers like Gumroad to handle these transactions. Customer data must also be safely considered.
With all the projects the backend technology must be properly considered to help the website owner to easily update and add products or services and for the end user to easily navigate and purchase. However sometimes these all fight so that the actual design and experience of using the site is compromised. I believe that the studioG|B site is a nice, clean design that works well to showcase the products as they should be. Great photography, retouching and informative pics help a lot.
Notes:
Whilst I am happy working in Wordpress, the continual upkeep and updating of the sites is a bit tiresome, so I am migrating away some of my sites. If you would like me to help manage your Wordpress sites and help with the repetitive tasks, let me know.
Because studioG|B is based in Europe the need for multi-currency pricing means we will probably use a different payment provider and cart software solution, this will also mean we can easily use a different CMS solution, watch this space!
