Boy Bites Horse

A project using Wordpress and a child theme.

Designers! Difficult customers to please. .

My best friend needed a blog to share notes about his lovely (Angelman) son's life and experiences. Easy blogging and updating was required but also as he is a designer / illustrator the look and feel was also very important. But the brief was quite easy, minimal, single image per blog and a side column for future advertising / promotion.

So we settled on Wordpress and I created a child theme of one of the default Themes that comes with Wordpress. This means future upgrades to the install should(!) not break the site. As this site has been around since 2012 it has stood the test of time, however php has seen a couple of major updates and these are very annoying and can easily break sites, let alone the major updates of Wordpress itself.

If you are struggling with technology updates and wondering what to do, especially if your original designer / developer is not around, let me know.

I would encourage you to visit and read / enjoy the writings of Christyan as he is very funny and the observations of his sons childhood are wonderful and educational, especially if your situation is similar.
